Fish keeping on a scale larger than a goldfish in bowl had long been something I wished to try, I eventually put my 1st tank together in January 1997. I chose a Tropical 68 complete set-up which included a  Bio-life Wet/Dry filter and heater, twin light hood operated by built in timer. Within 4 months a 4ft Bow-fronted tank was acquired   as the bias for my plant tank, with a direction now found a 2nd 16G planted tank was added, sadly this tank was irreparably damaged by thermostat malfunction. Though I never rebuilt this tank the lessons learned have prompted me to modify the heating set-ups of current and subsequent tanks to prevent similar problems.

I then picked up a couple of Oscars, these kept these temporally in old Tropical 68 tank, but as these fish can grow to 9-10" this tank had nowhere near the capacity required and a 60x18x24" tank was acquired and sited in the garage and they took up residence in Nov-1997.
